What if you can turn into a cat? You can go anywhere you want and jump into the roofs. What if the person you admire likes cats? You can then get closer to him/her, right?
A Whisker Away or also known as Nakitai Watashi wa Neko o Kaburu in Japan, was released in Netflix just this June 18, 2020. It’s originally planned to be released on theaters on June 5,2020; however, due to the pandemic, it was sold to Netflix and finally released. This film was produced by Studio Colorido (Hinata no Aoshigure, Penguin Highway), Toho Animation and Twin Engine (Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress).
At the start of the movie, it reminded me of Spirited Away but leaned towards Hotarubi no Mori e when I saw her getting lost in the festical. I was actually thinking, “Are you the kid who made Gin disappear???” I got that feels because Tomotaka Shibayama also directed this one. The person behind the unforgettable Spirited Away, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Your Lie In April and many more.
The story revolves around Miyo, whom everyone called as Muge (short for Ms. Ultra Gaga and Enigmatic) and her undying love to Hinode, a reserved person, an exact opposite of Miyo. This film was directed by Junichi Satoh and Tomotaka Shibayama.
This is a good movie to watch with the whole family because of the bits of lessons you’ll learn along the way like think things over a million times if you are thinking of leaving everyone behind and not letting them know how you feel. It’s a good movie to watch with the family this weekend, or any day.
