Orange Is The New Black Anime

I’m pretty sure you’ve heard about Orange is the New Black series, which is an American comedy-drama series created by Jenji Kohan. It is about Piper Chapman, a woman in her 30s who lives in New York City, and is sentenced to 15 months in Litchfield Penitentiary, a minimum-security women’s federal prison (operated by the “Federal Department of Corrections”, a fictionalized version of the Federal Bureau of Prisons) in upstate New York because she has been convicted of transporting a suitcase full of drug money for her then girlfriend Alex Vause.

What women undergone while in prison is very interesting. But hat’s more interesting is that Netfix Japan is releasing its anime version. As we all know, Japan is well-known for anime and their support for anime and making an anime version may be more compelling to their Japanese audience and anime lovers.

Netflix currently have several anime series they brand as “Netflix originals,” but those are actually series that are licensed ala Crunchyroll and Funimation and not actually made and/or produced by Netflix themselves. It may not be the case soon since Reed Hastings — founder of Netflix — gave a hint that it may change in the future.

Will the Orange is the New Black anime version be more compelling than the original version?
