Nobody seems to know where National Pizza Day came from or who started it. Most people enjoy pizza, so the day has gotten very popular anyway. According to National Day Calendar, “17% of all US Restaurants are pizzerias” and “Pepperoni is the most popular pizza at 36% of all pies ordered” and while “Gennaro Lombardi, the first Pizzeria in the United States, opened in 1895 in New York City, Antica Pizzeria, the first Pizzeria, opened in Naples, Italy, in 1738.
