Fly the Firefly

You might not know this but our cosplayer for today is a HUGE Firefly fan. The show might not be that popular for the 90s or 2000s kids who is reading this but I believe that this was really popular among it’s time. The show takes its name from the “Firefly-class” spaceship, Serenity, that the central characters call home. It resembles a firefly in general arrangement, and the tail section, analogous to a bioluminescent insectoid abdomen, lights up during acceleration.

Our cosplayer for today is Yaya Han. She is a costume designer, model and cosplay inara2_600_899_sentertainer with over a decade of experience. After discovering cosplay at Anime Expo in 1999, she quickly absorbed the heart and soul of costume design and creation. To this day Yaya has made close to 300 costumes in the genres of anime/manga, comic books, video games, sci-fi and her own original designs.

Yaya Han took the coat of Inara Serra for her to portray in the Dragoncon 2010. Inara is a professional, Alliance regulated companion. Schooled in a training center at house Midrassa on Xenon, that is religiously based to a slight. She was a trainer and very high ranking at the training school and order, when, for unknown reasons she left, taking up residence in a rented shuttle on Captain Reynolds’ ship, Serenity.
You know what’s good about this cosplay? You can wear it in social events and even if you know it or not, you’ll accept it as her following the dress code since the dress is very nice on itself. Well enough about that, the dress imade out of 5 yard of red dupioni silk to drape. Unlike on the original show, the fabric on the sleeves was boned to make it stay in place and straight which is a good twist to apply her own taste.

Let’s support Yaya Han by following her on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube Channel and DeviantArt. Let’s also support her photographer Darkain photography.
