Cowboys at its finest. Who would forget the most well known anime at early age, Cowboy Bebop which won the 1999 Anime Grand Prix, won TWO 1st place awards which are the best male character and best voice actor role. The series itself took the 2nd best anime series. And the following year it took another award in the 2000 Anime Grand Prix and in 2004 took 2nd rank in the Top 25 Anime of ALL TIME. What can I say? Japanese really has the skills in doing cowboy animes. But let’s not forget every shonen type anime must have their own heroine which, for cowboy bebop, is Faye Valentine.
Faye is one of the members of the bounty hunting crew. She is often seen with a cigarette and in a revealing outfit complete with bright yellow hot pants and a matching, revealing top (and, on occasion, a bikini). She sports violet hair, green eyes, and a voluptuous body. Although appearing to be no more than 23 years old, Faye is actually around 77 years old, having been put into cryogenic freeze after a space shuttle accident, wherein she spent fifty-four years in suspended animation. Holy Grand Mama!
Our cosplayer for today is Yaya Han. She is a costume designer, model and cosplay entertainer with over a decade of experience. After discovering cosplay at Anime Expo in 1999, she quickly absorbed the heart and soul of costume design and creation. To this day Yaya has made close to 300 costumes in the genres of anime/manga, comic books, video games, sci-fi and her own original designs.
This character of Yaya Han was worn and modelled in the last Cosplay under the Sakura in Tokyo, Anime North and Sakuracon. The costume was just made in 1 day since the anime character follows a much western appearance, the cloths she wears isn’t that hard to find. The yellow vinyl top and shorts were custom patterened by Yaya Han and the suspendered were attached to the shorts already so it didn’t take extra time. The things which is given focus on this cosplay was the custom made wig, the wig was bought and cut by Yaya Han to follow the anime logic of the bangs of Faye Valentine.
