A female that captures even boys. I guess that’s just how influential and good Sailor Moon is. Well it is popular enough to have it’s own remake in 2014 which was really a surprise for me, maybe because it’s one of the first shoujo anime which really became popular world wide since it is still an action anime or what you call, a mainstream anime. Now I wish for Yu yu Hakusho to have it’s remake too… BUUUT we’re talking about Sailor Moon and our character to be cosplayed to is non other than Sailor Moon! (Duh).
Sailor Moon is the title character and leader of the Sailor Senshi and the secret identity of Usagi Tsukino. This is the original depiction of the character created by Naoko Takeuchi. She was the first Senshi to be awakened by the moon cat Luna and the second Senshi to be awakened. She is the only Senshi that appears in every chapter of the manga.
WindoftheStars or real name, Mel has been cosplaying for almost 10 years already and has build herself a position, image and respect in the cosplay industry. She have created over 80 elaborate costumes, for herself and (surprisingly) for others which originates from movies, video games, comics, anime, manga and from her very own creative mind. Many of her costumes have received prestigious awards and have been featured in print and online publications around the world, and like what I said earlier, she earned her position in the cosplay industry thus she’s been constantly invited as a Guest of Honor, Judge, Booth Model and Panelist at conventions. Her current hobby lead her to become a professional tailor, seamstress at the top tier alterations shop in Northern Nevada.
Sailor Moon’s original fuku consists of a white leotard with a blue collar that has three stripes on it, light yellow shoulder pads, and a blue skirt, along with a red bow on the chest and at the back. Well it’s not really that different from her regular school uniform, you can just imagine herself wearing a regular school sailor uniform and whe she fights all of her cloths shortens except for the bowtie which becomes long. She also wore a pair of red knee-high boots with a white border at the triangular top and crescent moons, gold earrings consisting of a stars with a crescent moon beneath. The cosplay is good itself, since she was able to capture my own image of a western sailor moon cosplay, besides that, Sailor Moon’s blonde hair really matches her as well as her height which matches her outfit.
