This tutorial is how to create a merfairy look. The merfairy is said to favor the fairy side when in the woods and the mermaid side when near the ocean. The creator, Bethany Zion, used this video for voting into the a Nyx Cosmetics FACE Awards competition.
Bethany’s tutorial shows a high degree of creativity and attention to detail. She explains the purpose behind each technique and which Nyx products to use. Overall, the effects are quite pretty, and I especially loved the technique of using puffy-paints laid out on paper to obtain shapes and then transferring those to the face. Spirit gum helped those stay in place over the eyebrows.
For me, the only drawback was the notion of having gills on the face. That is a location I’m not used to seeing them placed. Perhaps there are some beings with facial gills. Aside from that small technicality, I think that this was a great tutorial for someone wishing to sport a fresh, new look.
