The new Superman movie looks amazing, but I’m a little concerned that they’re trying to do too much. This is Clark’s origin story, and they’ve also brought the General Zod storyline into the movie. From the way the trailer plays it up, the origin is a huge part of the movie. How much room will be left for dealing with Zod? If they play the balance well, this could be a mind-blowing movie.
The other thing that stood out was Kevin Costner as Jonathon Kent. Maybe it’s the influence of Smallville, or even residuals from the old Superman movies, but I’d hoped for a less known actor. Then again, it was Costner who rocked “Field of Dreams,” and he plays small-town farmer well. We’ll see!
