We love sexy cosplayers who put their own twist on costumes and characters. And I especially love when women crossplay as male characters. Lutetium is doing both so hard and it’s making me very happy today. Do you think she gave Jayn’es gun, Vera, a new boy’s name? Lutetium has this to say about this great cosplay:
“I started off meaning to do a River Tam costume (which is now in progress) because I thought it was about time I portrayed a character from my favourite show in the ‘verse. But as fate would have it, I already had the Blue Sun t-shirt and a holster. I sourced the rest of the costume and tried to keep it feminine where possible because after all, Jayne is a girls name. I wear this in a pin-up variation as well, with red lippy a flower in my hair and a bit more sass but for this shoot I kept it more original – in fear of being put in the airlock by fans 😉
In September I completed Tough Mudder twice in a weekend wearing two versions of my Jayne costume to raise funds for Legacy Australia and The Commando Wellfare Fund. I find it always helps to wear Jayne when you are required to be a tough cookie whether you are crawling through live wires or braving the crowds at cons. The costume and the thoughts of our troops along with months of training kept me going and I keep thinking ‘What would Jayne do?’ – he would have brought some ruddin’ grenades of course! Then we’d have no obstacles and that’s not just not very fun.”
