This Super Mario Bros. 3 session has the exact energy of somebody trying to have a nice normal platforming experience while the game keeps replying that perhaps today is not that day. I do love how Akane_Hikaris has gone for the retro stuff because it really does bring me back to my old days of gaming it!
This game never just lets Mario walk peacefully from left to right like a respectable plumber. It’s one of those games where every stage looks cheerful for about five seconds, then immediately starts asking for rent in precision jumps. Somewhere in the Mushroom Kingdom, there is absolutely a union rep telling Mario he should be charging overtime for this. But the plumber always finds his way.
The jumps are doable, the enemies are visible, the layout makes sense and yet somehow one badly timed move turns Mario into a cautionary tale. That is the beauty of SMB3. But Akane_Hikaris has no issues, for she has the skill!
