It’s been a while since I saw a Hatsune Miku cosplay which is really a delight to stumble upon. Lately there’s been a lot of Demon Slayer cosplay and it’s come to a point where I already expect to see one whichever cosplay link I click, but again, it’s brand new, so it’s understandable the hype is still on.
With all the new franchises coming out it feels like Vocaloid has had the spotlight taken away to give some attention onto the newer franchises and for them to take the stage. As much as I hate to say that this is the cycle of things within the entertainment business, it is. However, it doesn’t mean a franchise is dead. It manages to stay relevant using different media and it helps that the fans continue to keep talking about it and making noise related to it on social media. Cosplay is among the mediums that fans use that really help boost a show’s popularity.
I never thought I’d be so glad to see Nekomaru’s oriental-themed cosplay of Hatsune Miku on social media. It’s truly a blast from the past and it brings back memories of all the hype there was with Vocaloid. Hopefully this brings curious eyes towards what Vocaloid is and the franchise will gain new fans.
