The Witcher is originally a 2007 game available for PC and had two sequels on 2011 and 2015. It is based on the novel by Andrzej Sapkowski. The story is about Geralt, who is a witcher. By witcher, it means a mutated human who hunts monsters. Sounds like a superhero, right? But in this story, not everyone likes witchers. Most people believes that witchers can’t be trusted and not everyone wants to be around one. Geralt is played by Henry Cavill, who is amazing and perfect for this role.
The first episode of The Witcher mostly introduces Geralt and who he is and what type of world he lives in. For others who were not able to play this game on PC, watching this series gives you the idea how it was like.
In this episode, Geralt traveled to Blaviken where he looked for the alderman (or the person who put up the bounty for the monster). While looking for the alderman’s place, he went into a pub (where people are likely to know where’s what) where he met Renfri, who stopped her men from causing trouble to Geralt.
After not finding any use to the beast that Geralt captured, Marilka (the “daughter” of the alderman) pointed him to the wizard who may make use of the beast. She brought her dead dog who “mysteriously” once to the sorcerer, Stregobor, so she thought it would help Geralt dispose of the beast as well. Speaking of Marilka, did anyone catch that part where she mentioned she killed her dog?
Without much spoiling almost everything, is The Witcher a good one to watch? Yes, definitely. It’s very worth it to watch. I’ve honestly never played The Witcher (and it’s available for Nintendo Switch as well), but having to watch the first episode, really made me want to watch the next episode.
