Drifters: Episode 3

781

It seems like there are different groups in this story. The magicians or Octobrists — who don’t seem to be related in any way to the Ends including the spy Semu, the people of Carneades — who also seems to hate the Ends, and the elves who are the townspeople. In what I see, the poor townspeople are in the middle of this war.

There are two additional drifters, too, whom I forgot to mention on the previous article. The Roman guy Scipio and Hannibal Barca. It would be a shame if the antagonist has millions of soldiers and Murasaki only has 3 drifters so it is refreshing to see some more drifters arrive in this episode. The other additional character is the duo who call themselves “The Wild Bunch”, who looks like the characters in the Western movie way back 1969 with the same title, “The Wild Bunch“.

What’s ironic, though, is that it seems like the saints and popular characters are on the Ends’ side in this anime, namely Joan of Arc, Anastacia Romanov, Hijikata. Kurou Hougan Yoshitsune and their soldiers are called Crusaders.

It seems like drifters are just arriving one by one because the latest additional is a Japanese pilot during the World War, Kanno Naoshi. Now that the drifters are revealed, I’m pretty sure the next episode will be the assembly of the drifters.
