Artist Michelle Poirier is making metal lingerie and jewelry out of colorful dragon scales and chainmail. She is doing a Kickstarter for her lovely bras, necklaces, earrings, and pretty hand doohickeys. Her company has the amusingly clever name Chained Creativity (although she sometimes plays with other names like Eternal Elf Creations) and, even if you miss the Kickstarter, she has been doing this for a while and you can still get in touch with her for beautiful metalwear.

Running a business like this requires a lot of supplies, between jumprings, scales, beads, clasps, and more. This project is to fund buying new supplies for my spring projects.

I just love chainmaille and scalemail! Despite being all metal jewelry, these pieces are very lightweight 🙂 They are made using anodized (colored) aluminum and the color will not tarnish or fade.
There are 10 colors to choose from (you can mix colors together, or just choose one color, it’s up to you!)

PinkA look at the earrings: They are 2 inches long, not counting the earring hooks. Hooks are plated iron and nickle free. Don’t worry, these earrings are very light weight!

The necklaces are full of elegance and yet give you a fierce edge!
These scale hand armor pieces are great for all sorts of costumes, from belly dance, to warrior and dragon costumes, to all kinds of cosplay, or even with a prom dress!
You can choose to wear the bra over a shirt/fabric bra/bikini/dress. Some people wear the bra with nothing under that, but remember, this is draping and will not give you any lift, and if wearing it on it’s own, careful leaning over as the bottom rows of scales can flip up and expose you (eep!). I wear my scale bra over a regular fabric bra.

16 inch = size small
18inch = size medium
20 inch = size large
22 inch = size X-largeTo measure and see what size you need: wearing just your bra, measure from the beginning of the first cup to the end of the second cup across the fullest part of your chest. The seam lines of your bra that pretty much line up with your underarm are where you should start and stop measuring. (see picture)

You can choose to have your bra be one color, or multiple colors! Choose rows of colors, or go for a scattered effect. It’s all up to you 🙂

If by chance I happen to surpass my goal I will spend the money on:
-more chainmaille supplies -pendants, charms and beads (trust me when I say they add up fast!) -booth fees for craft fairs/conventions -a mannequin -photoshoots

If we surpass my goal, I will add new reward tiers 🙂 (if you want one of these, you will have to purchase them on top of your initial pledge).

I’m unlocking this a little early because I’m so excited about my new shoulder armor 🙂 The shoulder pieces are held up by attaching to the central necklace, and then there are two chains, which attach under your arms.

Risks and challengesChallenges: These items will all be handcrafted by me. I have lots of experience producing and shipping my work and I’ve prepped for this Kickstarter, making sure I have the time to get everything made to ensure everything is sent out in a timely manner.
I’m prepared to bring this project to reality and will keep everyone informed of my progress in a timely and transparent manner.
Shipping: if you move before your reward is sent out you will need to let me know, otherwise your reward will be mailed out to the address on file.
