Tonight on Orphan Black, it was the first episode of the second season. And boy oh boy did it take you for a ride!
So we started the episode assuming Helena was dead. Towards the end of the last episode of season one, we saw Sarah shoot Helena, and we thought that was the end of it. We start this episode with Sarah running in the rain looking for her little girl, Kira. We actually don’t see Kira till the very end of the episode.
Well, Sarah runs into a diner and after a few moments two men walk in. They intimidate her, and threaten her to leave with them. But the diner owner won’t have it. He pulls out a shot gun. Well, one guy shoots the diner man, as the diner man goes down he shoots one of the guys. Sarah runs, locks herself in the bathroom, and then makes it out by knocking a hole in the wall. We eventually learn that these guys are NOT part of the clones creators, but rather those religion extremists who raised Helena!
Most of this episode has been Sarah on the run, trying to stay one step ahead of Rachel and her minions. She outsmarts them a few times, but ends up at an event held at Dr. Leekie’s business offices (she got in pretending to be Cosima). She finds Rachel and threatens to shoot her. Rachel, being the cocky woman she is, tells Sarah that she won’t shoot her. Well, Sarah is angry and fires the gun off just a few inches away from her. Rachel freaks out, Sarah pistol whips her. Oh. My. Goodness. This episode just has us guessing till the very end.
Towards the end, Sarah is thisclose to telling Art everything. And I mean everything. I’m assuming in the next episode next week that Art would know as much as Sarah, and I’m guessing that he will end up trying to help her. But what about his new partner, Angela? Will they tell her? Will she snoop and spy and get killed? So much to speculate.
We still don’t know where Mrs. S and Kira are, but in the very last seconds of the episode, we see a man (just his arms, not his face) brush Kira’s hair, sit her on the bed, and take her photo. Who is he? Why did he take her photo? What is going to happen? Where is Mrs. S? So many questions left unanswered.
But then we get an answer we weren’t expecting at all. Helena is alive! She stumbles into the hospital, says that her sister shot her, and then falls to the ground. We then see the one man who survived the diner incident looking at her from a distance in the hospital. He puts his thumbs on his belt buckle, and on the buckle is the fish from the knife Helena had in the first season. Is he going to kill Helena? Is he mad that Sarah shot Helena?
Next weeks episode is sure to answer some questions, but leave us with more questions in the end.
