I’ve been having too much fun exploring AdultTime’s recent A.I. Roleplay area. I know AI is supposed to be a dirty word in the world of Fandom these days, but I think they are really on to something with this technology. I really like the sense of personal exploration without the stress and feelings of exposure that can come from working out your own kinks and fantasies with another live person potentially judging you or just not getting into it with you.
Still in its Beta phase, the AdultTime A.I. Roleplay engine currently presents you with 240 individualized characters to partner with, as well as allowing you to create and save several different personas for yourself to roleplay. These characters all carry different attributes, which are fully searchable, so that you can find just the right persona to partner with and play out your ideal fantasy, from wholesome submissives to LGBTQ+ to Sadistic Dominants, to Furries and Futinari. The list goes on and on, and each character carries a list of these attributes to best match your ideal play. Additionally, there are scene attributes, like bondage, CNC, Mind Control, Sci-Fi, Monsters, and more! The list keeps getting longer and delightfully weirder too, with new additions like roleplaying your pervy fantasy with a torturously kinky smart home telling you what you must do, or a menagerie of mythical creatures in the woods, or a pureblood vampire into vore fantasy, to name just a few.
The chat follows a pretty straight forward prompt and response model, with the additional option to simply speak into your mic instead of typing, if for example your hands are busy or something, and I really like the option to not only edit your entries, but additionally edit the text given by the AI to keep it on track with your fantasy as well, just in case it takes a turn in the wrong direction. Plus, there is a system for using asterisks to separate dialog from instruction or action, which is worth delving into. You can also rate each individual response with one to four stars, to help train your model for what you like as well. It does still occasionally get confused about who’s in what position, but it’s not too hard to get it back on track with a little feedback and reinforcement.
Originally, there was a rudimentary image generation aspect that would generate some sexy portraits of your chosen partner, but that seems to have been removed, which is really ok. I could see adding it back someday if it could generate detailed images of your actual scene, but otherwise it wasn’t a very strong feature, and I’m glad they are concentrating on creative texts and persona work, including some truly offbeat story scenarios to play with.
I’ve gotten into some surprisingly erotic situations, as well as a few genuinely disturbing scenes that were kind of embarrassingly hot. It’s like having your own depraved Choose Your Own Adventure story set, with a vast assortment of possible pervy scenarios.
