Setting aside the movie adaptations of Tomb Raider and talking about the game, we can all agree that Lara’s character has changed through the years. Even so, we can all agree that she is still the skilled, kickass, lady that we all admire. We can also agree that with the evolution of the game graphics, Lara’s design has also become much more beautiful, realistic, and for some, even sexier. They’ve also made her character more human by giving her emotions. Some see this lack of emotion as something that gives her a superhero-like status but I say this show of vulnerability only makes it more realistic.
While there is still some debate going on with the more recent release of the game and while some people are nursing a love-hate relationship with the new character design, let’s take this as an opportunity to appreciate this wonderful breath of fresh air among the flood of anime character cosplay on social media.
