The bi-annual Comic Market has been held in Tokyo for over 40 years. It is a place where independent artists and official publishers gather to sell and promote their products alongside other booths that promote upcoming anime, games, and booths that sell accessories, clothing, etc. In a designated area, the event allows cosplayers who have pre-registered to gather and be photographed. Many photographers from magazines as well as agency representatives frequent this area and so the cosplayers who are here have a chance at being famous if they are discovered.
