It’s the time of the year when people all around the globe celebrates the Chinese New Year. In Bacolod, Philippines, they celebrate it as “Bacolaodiat Festival“.

What’s Bacolaodiat? It comes from two words, one from the word “Bacolod”, which is the city, and “Lao Diat”, which means celebration in Fookien.

The entire city is filled with lanterns and there’s different activities in every corner. Bacolod City is also known for their chicken barbecue Filipino Style, which is commonly called as Chicken Inasal. It’s a chicken that is marinated with lime, pepper, vinegar, and annato and after marinating it, they will grill it on a hot coal and gives out a very delicious and inviting smell. Lacson Street is the main street as well as the longest street in Bacolod, and this is where they held the Bacolaodiat Festival from January 27, 2017 to January 29, 2017. The festival itself was being celebrated from January 16, 2017 to January 29, 2017 and different activities where held all over Bacolod City.
