shiroin_600_900_sI just love how steampunk is being inserted in every theme. You know in most games, anime and movies there are costumes, weapons and other things being incorporated with the steampunk theme? For example a dress and a steampunk theme, a gambler outfit with a steampunk theme, the whole fullmetal alchemist series has a steampunk theme on it, even the game, Bioshock and Dishonored has a drops of steampunk theme all over it.

Steampunk refers to a subgenre of science fiction and sometimes fantasy that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery. Although its literary origins are sometimes associated with the cyberpunk genre, steampunk works are often set in an alternative history of the 19th century’s British Victorian era or American “Wild West”, in a post-apocalyptic future during which steam power has maintained mainstream usage, or in a fantasy world that similarly employs steam power.

Our cosplayer for today is Yaya Han. She is a costume designer, model and cosplay entertainer with over a decade of experience. After discovering cosplay at Anime Expo in 1999, she quickly absorbed the heart and soul of costume design and creation. To this day Yaya has made close to 300 costumes in the genres of anime/manga, comic books, video games, sci-fi and her own original designs.

For this cosplay, Yaya Han collaborated with Outland Armour to create a Victorian Steampunk Dress. Like what I said, the dress is Victorian-Steampunk mixed but that doesn’t mean she can’t add the Asian mix within it. Yaya Han focus on the color green which closely resembles the steam punk theme, the green color tones were applied on the jacket/corset hybrid top with pleats, ruffles and beading. I love Yaya Han’s wig here which is kinda has this modern/rocker look with it but still fits the outfit. And the most steampunk-y theme is the fan which is made out of metal blade, maybe you wouldn’t neet to raise the fan up and down since it’s steam powered already? But it really looks good and can be used as a weapon in other cosplay.

This cosplayer is without a doubt have a great talent for both modelling and tailoring her costumes let’s at least support her by following her on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube Channel and DeviantArt. Let’s also support her photographer Anna Fisher photography and follow her on twitter
