I really enjoy watching Arrow because I get to see so many shots of Vancouver in the background. It’s such a nice, clean city with tons of beautiful architecture but remarkably crappy weather. It’s always gray which must be good for shooting since so very many shows and movies film there. I especially love when they use the city library as the setting of government offices (Fringe), futuristic offices (BSG and Caprica), or even cloning HQ (6th Day)!
Ollie’s nice motorcycle ride around Vancouver, I mean Starling City, is interrupted when his mother is caught in the crossfire. Ollie runs really fast but can’t manage to catch up with our shooter and everyone gives him grief about lying to the family and not wanting to spend time with them. Does anyone tell the truth to their family and want to spend lots of time with them? If you know of any of these people have them send me an email, I would like to pick their brains. Us normals know exactly what Ollie is feeling. Give the man some space!
Finally, FINALLY, we got some hot girl action up in here! Helena Bertinelli may be from a mafia family, but she’s not playing ball with them and is working against them at every turn. Give it up for Huntress! But where is her snazzy cape and mask? I really like this addition and I hope she sticks around for a while. Now we’ll have TWO brooding rich kids with chips on their shoulders!
Speaking of BSG, Helo makes an appearance as a mob strong arm with a serious attitude problem, but don’t worry, it all works out okay for him.
How is Merlin going to become an arch nemesis if daddy, who turns out to be Captain Jack (dun dun dun), cuts off his trust fund?! This character development is very slow, and it’s very hard to feel any kind of sympathy for such a douche bag. What are his redeeming qualities? He thinks he knows everything? He can get dressed by himself? Nah, he needs like a mortal wound or big scar across his face before I’m going to care about him.
Please let Huntress be a semi-regular so Ollie and Helena can get it on. They can beat up some guys and then do it, real hard and sweaty. Man, if this show was on HBO instead of CW it would really be good. What about it HBO? Cancel True Blood already and give us some gritty super heroes! That is more likely to happen with Batman tho.
