Tokyo Ghoul Season 3 Episode 9 Recap: play: Departed Spirit

889

Finally, Tsukiyama Shu! Ithought he’d never step up in action since he’s been bed-ridden since episode 1 of this season but I should have known that a mere ppicture of Sasaki/Kaneki would jumpstart his senses (though most of the time lay face flat on the ground)!

Sasaki brought his team to Uta’s mask shop to have them all wear masks and disguise as ghouls although it was not approved by CCG. Technically, they’re also ghouls and the only difference is that they are acknowledged and licensed ghouls.

Uta threw weird questions to Sasaki’s team while taking their measurements for their masks and I’m pretty sure it’s for a good reason. He was the one who made Kaneki’s mask afterall, being able to see through Kaneki.

As a part of Shu’s plan to have Sasaki regain his memory as Kaneki, he approached Sasaki to see if he remembers him. As we all know, Shu is a bit obsessed with Kaneki so he is dying to know if some of Kaneki’s traits still remains within Sasaki.

When Shu mentioned the writer, Takatsuki, to Sasaki, (he thinks he knows Kaneki better than even Kaneki himself), he was surprised that Sasaki is NOT into Takatsuki’a work. This started Shu’s stalking, probably to prove to himself that Sasaki is Kaneki. It’s good that he’s also thinking to bring Kaneki back and take him to the folks in Anteiku. Personally, I like Shu’s character from the beginning (season 1). Aren’t we all a little obsessed with something/someone some point in our lives?

Good job, by the way, Kanae, you little genius. I thought you were helping Shu to get Shu closer to Sasaki but it seems that the message was poorly received by their hired ghouls goons when he said to attack/kill the doves (Sasaki was not in the picture) and they ended up attacking Sasaki.
